Twisted’s Favourite Re-reads

Everyone has a book or two that they revisit when the mood hits. Right? There’s at least one they love enough to go back to? Maybe it’s just me, but I have a small pile (okay, medium sized pile) that I return to over and over. And you can easily see there’s a common thread running through most of them, with strong connections between the characters. Often, my favs include the friends to lovers or second chance (if not both of those) tropes, because there is something special about being known so well by someone that they just can’t live without you, but often it’s about the atmosphere and writing style or the found-family dynamic that calls to me. I have different rereads for different seasons, but we’ll start off with a few broad recommendations that I think almost anyone could love. – CJ

Ld has a few favourites as well, so we thought we would share the ones she goes back to time and time again as well.

This one has everything I need in a comfy reread. Heavy fall vibes, A bookstore owning babe with a hot author of a former best friend who is falling fast and hard for her. There are small town festivals and quirky characters, and it has cliches stacked on top of cliches, but it reads fresh and fun and I couldn't help but love it! - CJ

This one was hilarious. It should be immature and ridiculous (and it kind of is) but it's also witty and smart and never feels immature if that makes sense? There's also a brilliant bird which happens to be one of my weaknesses (I have like five favourite books with birds that made me laugh until I died, coincidentally... or not?). - CJ

Here is where you learn that I am a sucker for best friends to lovers (or sibling's best friend, best friend's sibling, etc.) and maybe hockey romance too. I love this series as a whole and have read them more than once, but this one? Hayden loves Darcy so completely and beautifully, and I love seeing him lift her up and bring her back to life. I think maybe you'll love it too. - CJ

This book felt like an adventure book or movie from my childhood. It has action, adventure, magic, and the found family vibe I love to see. As soon as I closed this one I went straight back to the beginning and will absolutely do so again! - CJ

With Christmas coming up soon (I know, it's only October) this one is already in the back of my mind. I feel completely in love with both the atmosphere and the characters in this book last year, and I've been waiting patiently to pick it up again. - CJ

I picked this one completely blind. New release, included in my Audible membership, didn’t even read the description before I started listening. I still wasn’t entirely sure what I was listening to for the first little while. What I can tell you is that by the end I was completely hooked and genuinely glad I took the shot.

The Night We Lost Him

The Night We Lost Him

A father falls from a cliff at his remote California home. The authorities call it an accident. His estranged daughter and her half-brother β€” two people who barely know each other β€” aren’t convinced. What follows is part family drama, part murder mystery, and entirely about the mess that people leave behind when they die with secrets still intact. I don’t give five stars often. This one earned every single one.

Our Take

that's all, folks.
